Spooktacular

The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office will host our annual Halloween Spooktacular on Monday, October 31st from 6-8 pm at the Alcazar Shriner's Temple located at 555 Eastern Boulevard. Youth 12 years old and under are invited to come out and bring their Halloween bucket to trick-or-treat in a safe, family-friendly atmosphere with Sheriff Cunningham and staff. There will be 40+ vendors there handing out candy to everyone. We will not be issuing candy to anyone over 12 years of age so that we have enough candy for everyone.

Citizens Academy

Our Citizen Academy began on October 3rd but you can still attend. If you haven't heard about our Citizens Academy, you're missing out. The course consists of one night a week for one hour for a period of six weeks. You will learn about each department of the Sheriff's Office and how they operate and protect you, the citizen.

Registration is limited so please register now!! These are the requirements:

• Resident of Montgomery County • At least 21 years of age or older • Pass a criminal background check • Attend weekly meetings • Applications can also be requested by calling 334-832-1339 or request by mail or fax

Firearms Familiarization Course

Sign up NOW for our Firearms Familiarization Course scheduled for October 8th and learn how to protect yourself! We know that learning how to protect yourself is very important in today's world. The October 8th course will be the last course for 2016 so don't miss out.

The class is held at our Firing Range and lasts all day and is FREE to Montgomery County citizens! The morning session is classroom instruction on firearm safety and firearm laws. The afternoon session allows citizens to practice shooting on our Firing Range for the remainder of the class. All classes are under the instruction of the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office Range Master.

Course Requirements: • Montgomery County Citizen • Obtain a Montgomery County Pistol Permit (prior to the course date) • Complete an Application for the Course

Christmas Toy Drive

It's almost time for our annual Christmas Toy Drive at Wal-Mart Chantilly. Each year we collect new, unwrapped toys for kids of all ages to deliver to those in need so that no one goes without a gift this Christmas. Please check our website periodically or the November issue of the Alabama Gazette for this year's date.

Angel Christmas Tree for the Homeless

The Sheriff's Office will soon have a Christmas tree with angel ornaments for anyone to come by or call to pick an ornament for homeless children and adults. These ornaments will list wanted needy items. Close to Christmas, Sheriff Cunningham and staff will deliver any donated items to the homeless in our area. Please check our website periodically for the date the Christmas tree will be displayed as well as our November Alabama Gazette article.

THANK YOU...Senior Fishing Rodeo

Thank you to all the senior citizens that came out for our annual Senior Fishing Rodeo was a huge success! We had over 200 seniors come out to fish with Sheriff Cunningham and staff. If you missed the event this year, please mark your calendar for the 2nd Tuesday in September, 2017.
