The American Family Association Forewarns People About The Democratic Socialists of America

Tim Wildmon, the president of the American Family Association, sent out an e-mail today under the heading of "A Personal Note From Tim" forewarning people about the growing influence of the Democratic Socialists of America, commonly known as "DSA". For the co-chair of the DSA recently appeared on Fox News Sunday with Shannon Bream to discuss some of the major platforms of the Democratic Socialists of America. A platform which according to Bream consists of making, "conditions intolerable for the ruling class."

On Fox News with Shannon Bream, Megan Romer, the co-chair of the DSA confirmed that part of their platform is to abolish the United States Senate. According to Romer, the Senate is "anachronistic" since it is based off of the British House of Lords. The DSA co-chair further explained on the show that part of their long-term plan is to eliminate the Senate and expand the House of Representatives. Making it the only legislative body of the USA. As the DSA also wants to replace the office of the President with an executive chosen by and subordinate to their expanded Congress.

When asked by Shannon Bream if the Democratic Socialists of American want to abolish ICE, which stands for Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Romer replied with, "Absolutely". Romer then further explained that open borders is part of their long-term plan. When pressed by Bream whether such a plan was feasible since 60% of households headed by illegal immigrants receive public assistance of some form, Romer responded with a statement that that was due to the immigrants not being allowed to work, live, and go to school in the USA. Although, under Plyer v. Doe, the Supreme Court ruled that public schools are constitutionally required to provide equal access to free education from Kindergarten through High School for all children, regardless of their immigration status or the status of their parents. While that Supreme Court decision was decided on June 15th, 1982, Romer seemed unaware that illegals have access to free education in American public schools as it is.

Romer further explained the open border long-term plan of the Democratic Socialists of American by stating that their philosophy is that, "if the U.S. stops destabilizing countries" their assumption is that there will be less migration into the USA. Since most illegal immigrants into the USA are economic immigrants. Although, a Gallup poll in 2019 found that 158 million adults around the world would migrate to the United States if they could.

Romer also stated on the Fox News show that the Democratic Socialists of America intend to abolish prisons as part of their long-term plan. As Romer stated that people are, "mostly in prison for crimes of poverty". When pressed by the Fox News anchor, Shannon Bream, if the DSA would abolish prison for pedophiles and such ilk, Romer avoided answering the question directly. While Romer did admit that some people are not fit to be in society, she hinted that keeping them out of society would take a different form than the prison system. She did not elaborate specifically what that alternate form would look like.

While it might seem like the Democratic Socialists of America are a fringe political group with such views as the ones listed above, one reason the Mississippi-based American Family Association is concerned about the DSA is because they are experiencing a growth in national membership. With their membership estimated to be surpassing 120,000 at present. Furthermore, the DSA recently experienced some electoral victories with Claire Valdez winning the Democratic primary for the 7th Congressional District, Darializa Avila Chevalier, ousting the incumbent in the 13th Congressional District, and Brad Lander securing a key House primary victory with a coalition involving the DSA. The mayor of New York City, Zohran Mamdani, who is a democratic socialist, campaigned for Valez and Avila Chevalier. With 8 of the 9 candidates the DSA endorsed for the New York State Legislature advancing to the general election.

Thus far, the Democratic Socialists of America are mainly gaining influence in major urban areas. But, Tim Wildmon of the American Family Association states that such influence is not to be minimized since, " . . . the DSA is growing and is now financially backing and running extreme candidates in some congressional races in order to move its agenda along."
