The people's voice of reason
On Friday, the Alabama First Responders Association announced that it has endorsed both Congressman Barry Moore (R-Enterprise) and former President Donald J. Trump for President in the upcoming March 5th Republican primary.
Barry Moore is running for the First Congressional District in South Alabama after having represented the Second Congressional District for two terms. Moore and incumbent Rep. Jerry Carl (R-Mobile) are both running for the same seat because the two districts were redrawn by a federal court so that both now live in the First. The courts redrew the second in hopes that a Black Democrat will be elected there.
The First Responders said in a statement, "President Trump's unwavering support for first responders and commitment to ensuring their access to vital resources have earned our admiration. Similarly, Congressman Moore's steadfast backing of President Trump and his advocacy for law enforcement have garnered our support."
Since both are conservative congressman and since now the First Congressional District has been redrawn, there is little difference in voting between the candidate's voting record in Congress. That has not stopped the campaigns from running heavy negative ads against each other though.
The American First Responders PAC wrote, "Amidst a regrettable smear campaign against Congressman Moore and his family, funded by an Anti-Trump PAC, it has become evident that false advertisements seek to undermine his record. Congressman Moore's dedication to conservative values, evidenced by his strong stance on border security and his esteemed position within the House Freedom Caucus, dispels any suggestion of alignment with the opposing party. Furthermore, we express disappointment in Congressman Jerry Carl and the PACS for t their involvement in disseminating these misleading attack ads, supported by known Trump critic and Nikki Haley supporter, Ken Griffin. Such actions only serve to detract from the integrity of the electoral process."
The First Responders, "Call upon all voters to support our first responders and cast their votes on March 5th in favor of candidates who prioritize the safety and well-being of our communities."
Moore has been endorsed by former President Donald J. Trump, U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), Congressman Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), and Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Georgia). He is a member of the House Freedom Caucus. He also has been endorsed by Eagle Forum PAC, Conservative Christians of Alabama, House Freedom Caucus PAC, and the Alabama Republican Assembly.
Barry Moore is a veteran with an agriculture degree from Auburn University. He and his wife own a waste management company in Enterprise. Moore served two terms in the Alabama House of Representatives from 2010 to 2018. In 2020 Moore ran for CD2 when it was an open seat and was re-elected in 2022.
The Republican primary is Tuesday, March 5. The polls open at 7:00 a.m. and close at 7:00 p.m. To participate in any Alabama election, you must bring a valid photo ID with you.
