Kennedy to announce running mate on March 26

The independent campaign for President of Robert Kennedy (I) is underway. The Kennedy campaign announced on Wednesday that he will make the announcement in Oakland, California on Tuesday, March 26.

"The time has come for Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. to announce his running mate for the 2024 presidential election," the Kennedy campaign announced in an email to supporters. "Because of your support, this is now the most successful independent campaign in history. Together, we have shown the world that Americans really are tired of the vitriol and division. Americans are looking for a leader who can "Heal The Divide."

"On Tuesday March 26th, in Oakland, California, Mr. Kennedy will announce the partner that he has chosen to help lead America into a brighter vision of peace, prosperity and unity," the Kennedy campaign continued. "We would be honored for you to join us for this historic announcement."

Among the candidates reportedly being considered are former Minnesota Governor Jessie Ventura (I) and New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

Ventura was a member of the Navy's Underwater Demolition Team during the Vietnam War era. He spent some time as a pro wrestler before turning actor. He costarred with Arnold Schwarzenegger and the late Carl Weathers in the original Predator movie. He also costarred alongside Schwarzeneggar and the late Richard Dawson in Running Man.

Rodgers is a Super Bowl winning quarterback and former NFL most valuable player. He spent the first 18 seasons of his career with the Green Bay Packer; but was the opening day starter for the New York Jets in 2023. He was sidelined in the first series of the first game with an injury. He is still on the Jets roster and is ostensibly the Jets' 2024 opening day starter barring injury......or running for vice president. Rodgers reportedly was considering leaving football to be the host of the gameshow Jeopardy; but ultimately lost out in that competition to Ken Jennings and Mayim Balik. Rodgers has gained notoriety beyond football for, like Kennedy, his skepticism of the Covid-19 vaccine and the global response to the virus. If he returns to the Jets for his 20th season, he will be the oldest player in the League.

Kennedy is an environmental attorney who has filed a number of class action lawsuits against companies – notably Monsanto. He is also a longtime vaccine skeptic.

He is the son of former Attorney General Robert Kennedy Senior and the nephew of former President John F. Kennedy. Kennedy was originally a Democrat; but left the party last year when it became apparent that Democratic Party leaders were going to impede his effort to try to challenge incumbent President Joseph R. Biden (D). Both Biden and former President Donald J. Trump (R) have both already won enough delegates for the nomination of their respective parties.
