UAB advances with win over Wichita State

The UAB Blazers men's basketball team advanced to the semifinals in the All-American Conference tournament with an impressive 72 to 60 win over Wichita State on Friday.

With the win, the University Alabama Birmingham advances to the AAC tournament semifinals. UAB will play South Florida at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday in Fort Worth, Texas. The winner will advance to the AAC championship game.

Yaxel Lendeborg led the scoring with aa stellar 18 points and 14 rebounds performance. Lendeborg is 6 foot 9 inches and 230 pounds. He previously played at Arizona Western and is from New Jersey, where he attended Pennsauken High School.

Daniel Ortiz had 16 points. Ortiz is a 6-foot 0-inch 185-pound guard from Shreveport, Louisiana where he attended Calvary Baptist High School.

Christian Coleman contributed 13 points and 7 rebounds. Efrem Johnson contributed 11 points.

UAB is coached by Andy Kennedy.

UAB is 12 and 5 in conference play and 21 and 10 overall.
