Micah Messer Declares Candidacy for Alabama House District 38

Smiths Station, AL – June 26, 2025 - Small business owner, law enforcement officer, and U.S. Army veteran Micah Messer has officially announced his candidacy for the Alabama House of Representatives, District 38, following the resignation of incumbent Rep. Debbie Wood (R-Valley).

Messer, a lifelong resident of Alabama and member of the Alabama National Guard, is running on a platform of transparency, accountability, and common-sense governance. In his announcement, he emphasized his deep roots in the community and his desire to represent the values of working families across Lee and Chambers Counties.

"District 38 is my home, and I want it to continue to be a wonderful place to live, work, and raise a family," Messer said. "The people of this district deserve a representative who reflects their values and work ethic-from farmers and industrial workers to firefighters and teachers".

Campaign Priorities

Messer's campaign is focused on several key issues:

- Election integrity

- Lowering taxes

- Fighting government waste

- Supporting law enforcement with better training and resources

- Opposing the expansion of casino interests in District 38

- Defending family values

He has invited residents to contact him directly to share their concerns and ideas, underscoring his commitment to grassroots engagement.

A Familiar Face in District 38

This is not Messer's first run for the seat. He previously challenged Rep. Wood in the 2022 Republican primary, a race she won. With Wood's resignation-effective July 31, 2025-the seat is now open, and a special election date is expected to be announced soon.

District 38 underwent redistricting in late 2022, and Messer has expressed confidence that the new boundaries still reflect the community he knows and serves.

"Our state government works best when it is truly by the people and for the people," Messer said. "I am committed to being a responsive and principled voice in Montgomery."
