"God and Country" Remains the Guiding Motto as Paschal Seeks to Continue His Fight for Conservative Values and Alabama Families
June 24, 2025 - Pelham, AL – Representative Kenneth Paschal today officially announced his candidacy for reelection to the Alabama House of Representatives, District 73, which includes portions of Alabaster, Helena, Montevallo, and Pelham. A proud conservative Republican, Army veteran, and steadfast defender of traditional values, Paschal is seeking a second term to continue his commitment to service, principled leadership, and delivering results for the people of Shelby County.
Paschal made history when he was elected in a 2021 special election, becoming the first Black Republican elected to the Alabama Legislature in nearly 140 years. He was subsequently elected to a full term in 2022. Throughout his time in office, Representative Paschal has stood unwaveringly for the principles of liberty, limited government, and strong families.
"I ran to serve-not to make promises, but to uphold the Constitution and defend the rights and values of the people of Alabama," said Paschal. "With your continued support, I will keep fighting for God, country, and the families of District 73."
Looking ahead to a second term, Representative Paschal has outlined a focused, forward-looking agenda built on core conservative principles. His legislative priorities include:
• Advancing Tax Relief for working families to ease financial burdens and promote economic independence.
• Expanding Public Safety Protections to ensure every community remains secure and resilient.
• Strengthening Educational and Parental Choice, empowering families to make the best decisions for their children's education.
• Driving Economic Development and Job Creation across Shelby County and the state.
• Protecting and Strengthening Family Values and Parental Rights, a cornerstone of Paschal's legislative vision.
Paschal's campaign will continue under the banner of his steadfast motto: "God and Country." A reflection of his service in the U.S. Army and his dedication to the people of Alabama, it underscores his belief in faith, freedom, and family as the bedrock of American life.
In recognition of his leadership and commitment to conservative principles, Representative Paschal was recently honored with the Alabama Republican Party's "Defender of Freedom" Award - a testament to his proven record of service and integrity.
Paschal also reflected on the successes of the past four years, specifically citing infrastructure projects that have helped support growth in Shelby County:
• $300M I-65 Widening Project – Alabaster to Calera (underway)
• $41.8M Highway 261 Widening in Pelham
• $41.7M Federal Grant for Pelham Highway 52 Flyover – The largest railroad crossing grant in the nation, improving safety, reducing delays, enhancing emergency response, and creating long-term economic benefits.
"It has been the honor of a lifetime to serve the people of District 73," said Paschal. "From protecting families from government overreach and empowering parents to collaboratively working to secure major investments in infrastructure and public safety, I remain committed to building a stronger future for our district and our state. Alabama needs leaders who don't just talk about values-they live them, fight for them, and deliver real results," Paschal added. "I'm running to keep doing just that."
Kenneth Paschal served 21 years in the U.S. Army before retiring in 2006. After his service, he returned to his home state, settling in Shelby County, Alabama. He is a past post commander of the American Legion and a member of the Shelby County Chamber of Commerce Governmental Affairs Committee. Paschal also serves on the Shelby County Republican Executive Committee.
