Tuscaloosa Councilman Norman Crow is ALGOP Nominee in Alabama House District 63 Special Election

June 23, 2025 - HOOVER, AL - The qualifying period for the special election in State House District 63 officially closed at 5:00 p.m. CDT this evening-Monday, June 23, 2025.

At the close of qualifying, Tuscaloosa City Councilman Norman Crow was the only individual to qualify as a Republican candidate in the race.

As a result, Councilor Crow is now the official Alabama Republican Party nominee for House District 63.

"We are thrilled to have such an experienced candidate with solid conservative credentials representing the Republican Party in this race," said ALGOP Communications Director Jeannie Burniston. "Councilman Crow has demonstrated a strong commitment to his community and to the values we stand for as a Party. We are confident he will serve the people of Tuscaloosa County with distinction in the Alabama Legislature."

EDITORIAL NOTE: Judith Taylor will be the Democratic Party nominee.

House District 63 covers portions of Tuscaloosa County. The seat became vacant earlier this month following the appointment of former Representative Cynthia Almond as President of the Alabama Public Service Commission by Governor Kay Ivey.

The special general election will take place on Tuesday, January 13, 2026.
