July 2, 2025 - HOOVER, AL - The Alabama Republican Party is proud to announce that Communications Director Jeannie Negrón Burniston has been promoted to serve as the Party's Director of Legislative Affairs. She will continue in her current role as ALGOP Director of Communications while taking on this expanded position.

In her new capacity, Burniston will assist ALGOP Chairman John Wahl in shaping the Party's legislative agenda and will coordinate with Republican lawmakers and conservative stakeholders to promote the issues that matter most to Alabama families. She will also support outreach and strategic efforts as the Party continues to advance conservative priorities in Montgomery.

"Jeannie has worked closely with me over the past several legislative sessions, helping research, communicate, and support key conservative initiatives," said Chairman Wahl. "She has already begun tracking pre-filed bills for the 2026 session and identifying the issues we should take on next year. Her insight, attention to detail, and commitment to Republican values have made a tremendous impact."

Wahl also praised Burniston's experience and relationships across the conservative movement.

"Jeannie has earned the trust and respect of many of our House and Senate members and has developed a strong reputation for professionalism and policy knowledge," Wahl continued. "I'm proud to have her stepping into this expanded role, and I know she'll continue to be a valuable asset to our Party and our state."

Burniston has served as ALGOP's Communications Director since 2019, where she has led the Party's media and messaging strategy, earning national recognition for her work. Prior to that, she held leadership roles with Republican organizations across Alabama and advised more than 20 political campaigns. She began her career as an Edward R. Murrow Award-winning journalist in New York City before relocating to Alabama in 2006.
