Alabama prevails over Vanderbilt 30 to 14

October 4, 2025 – Last year the Tide beat Georgia and vaulted to number one in the country; then their season came apart in Nashville against Vanderbilt. Saturday's rematch started off similarly for the Tide.

Vanderbilt running back Sedrick Alexander ran the ball 65 yards for a touchdown to take a seven-point lead. The Tide missed a makeable field goal and Vanderbilt Quarterback Diego Pavia led the Commodores down the field at will to jump out to a 14 to 7 lead in the second quarter. Then the Tide began to get things going offensively tying it up 14 to 14 at halftime. The two teams looked evenly matched; then in the second half the Tide had its way with the Commodores. The defense was stifling. Bama got the run game going and the Tide never looked back.

Alabama redshirt junior Quarterback Ty Simpson was spectacular. He had complete command of the offense throwing for 340 yards, 2 touchdowns, and completing 23 of his 30 passes despite an early interception.

Running back Jam Miller is back after missing the first three games with a concussion. He rushed for 136 yards on 22 carries, including a game-sealing 20-yard touchdown run with just 12 seconds left.

Bama has the best receiving duo in the country with Ryan Williams and Germie Bernard. Each caught touchdown passes. Williams finished with 98 yards; while Bernard added 82 yards receiving of his own.

Alabama's defense shut out Vanderbilt in the second half, allowing just 109 total yards and 9 rushing yards after halftime.

Vanderbilt Quarterback Diego Pavia threw for 183 yards, ran for 58, and had two costly turnovers-an interception and a fumble.

Alabama converted all four red zone trips into points, while Vanderbilt failed to capitalize on two red zone chances due to turnovers.

The Crimson Tide dominated time of possession and third-down efficiency, grinding out long drives that wore down the Commodores defense. The Tide D forced three turnovers and made critical stops in the second half.

Alabama Head Coach Kalen DeBoer called the win "hard-nosed" and praised the team's growing confidence and resilience.

"The momentum we're continuing to gain, there's a confidence between offense and defense that the other side will come through when it matters most."

Alabama improves to 4 and 1 on the season and 2 and 0 in the SEC. Alabama travels to face No. 19 Missouri on Saturday, October 11.
