Troy defeats Buffalo 21 to 17

September 20, 2025 – BUFFALO, NY – Troy University fans who cut the game off after three quarters of play were pleasantly surprised when they woke up the next day as Troy mounted an incredible fourth-quarter comeback to defeat Buffalo 21 to 17.

Troy had been shut out of the end zone for three quarters 0 to 14. After giving up a fourth quarter field goal that appeared to be the dagger, The Troy Trojans erupted with 21 unanswered points in the fourth.

"We didn't flinch," said Troy Coach Gerad Parker. "That's the biggest thing I saw tonight. We were down, we were frustrated, but we didn't flinch."

Troy Quarterback Tucker Kilcrease sparked the rally with a 10-yard touchdown pass to R. Thomas. That was followed on the next Troy possession by a 20-yard rushing score from T. Meadows.

"That run was pure heart," said Coach Parker. "He saw the crease and exploded through it. That's who he is-tough, dependable, and clutch."

Kilcrease then capped off the comeback with a 6-yard touchdown run with just two minutes left to play.

Coach Parker praised the play of Kilcrease in leading the comeback.

"Tuck's poise was everything. He didn't panic, he didn't press. He just kept us moving forward."

Troy's defense rose to the occasion and kept Buffalo from scoring.

The victory showcased Troy's resilience and ability to execute under pressure, especially on the road. Troy improved to 2 and 2 on the season, while Buffalo fell to 2 and 2.

"We challenged them at halftime to play with urgency and trust the process," said Coach Parker. "That fourth quarter was a testament to their belief in each other."

Troy had 202 yards passing and 163 yards rushing on the day while holding Troy to 153 yards passing and 125 yards rushing. Troy had to overcome two costly turnovers.

Troy has a bye this week. Their next game is scheduled for Saturday, October 4, when they host South Alabama at Veterans Memorial Stadium in Troy, Alabama. Kickoff is set for 6:00 PM Central Time, and it's expected to be a high-energy Sun Belt rivalry matchup.
