September 29, 2025 – WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville (R-Alabama) said on X that Democrats are forcing a government shutdown in order to hinder President Donald J. Trump's efforts to restore order to America's cities.
"Antifa terrorists are burning our cities, attacking ICE facilities, and murdering people at church," said Sen. Tuberville on X. "Meanwhile, the Radical Democrats want to shut down our government and stop funding law enforcement. Make no mistake – this is an attempt to SHUT DOWN law and order in this country."
Domestic terrorists have become an increasing problem in recent weeks.
On September 28 in Grand Blanc Township, Michigan a man rammed his truck into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and opened fire during Sunday services. At least four people were killed and eight injured. The attacker then set the church ablaze. Authorities are investigating the motive, and Michigan's governor condemned the act as a targeted mass shooting. The assassin was gunned down at the scene by police.
On September 24 in Dallas, Texas a loan sniper opened fire on an ICE facility. One man was killed and two were critically injured. The victims were all detainees. The assassin committed suicide.
September 19 – 28 in Broadview Illinois ongoing protests escalated into violent confrontations outside the ICE Broadview Processing Center. Protesters reportedly slashed tires, blocked entrances, and threw tear gas canisters. ICE agents responded with pepper pellets and gas. At least three protesters have been arrested; one was armed.
On September 10 at Utah Valley University (UVU) in Orem, Utah political philosopher Charlie Kirk was speaking at an outdoor event hosted by Turning Point USA, the first stop of his Fall 2025 "American Comeback Tour." When a single sniper shot fired from the rooftop of a nearby building, roughly 142 yards away gunned down Kirk. Authorities have a suspect in custody.
August 27, 2025 in Minneapolis, Minnesota a former student opened fire during a back-to-school Mass at Annunciation Catholic Church. Two children were killed. 21 people were wounded or were injured in the premeditated attack. The shooter died by suicide at the scene. The attack occurred during a service for the church's PreK–8 school
July 13, 2025 – Lexington, Kentucky a man fleeing police opened fire at Richmond Road Baptist Church. Two people were killed and two were wounded. The suspect was reportedly searching for the mother of his children. The shooting followed a traffic stop and vehicle theft
ICE reported a 1,000% increase in assaults on agents nationwide. July–September 2025 ICE reported a dramatic rise in assaults on agents-up 690% compared to the same period last year. 79 assaults on officers were reported between January and June 2025, up from 10 the previous year. Incidents include vehicles used as weapons and physical altercations during enforcement actions. ICE attributes the rise to increasingly aggressive protest tactics and political rhetoric.
The Republican controlled U.S. House of Representatives passed a continuing resolution to keep the government funded; but arcane rules in the U.S. Senate require 60 votes to end a filibuster. Senate Democrats led by Senator Chuck Schumer have refused to lift their filibuster without Democrats crossing over to vote with Republicans to keep the government funded a partial government shutdown will go into effect starting at 10:59 p.m. CDT on Tuesday.
Senator Tuberville supports President Trump's efforts to support law enforcement and to deport criminal aliens illegally in the country. Tuberville is a candidate for Governor of Alabama.
