Known for his signature song that has become a red, white, and blue classic, "God Bless the U.S.A.", country music artist, Lee Greenwood is scheduled to perform at The Alabama National Fair on Sunday, October 12th, at 7 PM in Montgomery, Alabama. With Greenwood being the "grand finale" commemorating the fair's "Hero Day", which honors veterans of the armed forces, active-duty military, and first responders.
At 82 years of age, on the 27th of this month to turn 83 years of age, Lee Greenwood's concerts are known for featuring Lee singing his iconic song along with other patriotic themes. Fans report that he continues to sing well in spite of being an octogenarian and that he has an entertaining way of incorporating a variety of instruments into his shows, such as the guitar, saxophone, banjo, bass, and the electric keyboard.
A former member of the National Council On The Arts, Lee Greenwood, is a California native who came of age during The Vietnam War. He received a 3-A deferment that kept him out of the Vietnam draft, due to being a married man with children at the age of 17. With the 3-A deferment applying to an eligible male if "service would cause hardship upon his family." Lee Greenwood's father, Eugene, however, did serve in the U.S. Navy during World War II. With his father signing up for the Navy the next day after the bombing of Pearl Harbor.
The Alabama National Fair is hosted by the Kiwanis Club of Montgomery. With the sponsors for the stage acts being the Poarch Creek Indians. Other acts leading up to the Lee Greenwood concert on October 12th, 2025, include an Elvis tribute band, "The Memphis Show Band" featuring Brad Bradley as the Elvis Presley tribute artist; the grammy winning R&B and soul artist, Anthony Hamilton, and the Grammy Award nominated rock band, "Skillet".

With the Kiwanis Club having donated over $10.5 million dollars to local charities in Montgomery since the inception of the fair in 1954.
