Senator Katie Britt Delivers Major Defense Wins for Alabama in 2026 NDAA

WASHINGTON, D.C. - October 10, 2025 - U.S. Senator Katie Britt (R-Ala.) has secured a series of strategic victories for Alabama's military infrastructure and national defense role through the passage of the Fiscal Year 2026 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). The legislation, which authorizes $925 billion in defense funding, includes over $150 million in targeted investments for Alabama installations and facilities.

"The NDAA ensures our military and warfighters remain the most lethal, well-equipped, and battle-ready in the world," said Senator Britt. "Under President Trump and Republicans' budget, our defense capabilities are stronger than ever. Importantly, the NDAA goes beyond authorizing critical programs, setting the tone for our military priorities, national security measures, and beyond."

Key Alabama Investments in the FY26 NDAA

Senator Britt championed several high-impact authorizations for Alabama, including:

• 🧪 $44 million for a new physics laboratory at Redstone Arsenal

• 🚀 $55 million to complete the Propulsion Systems Building at Redstone Arsenal

• 📦 $32 million for a DLA Distribution Center at Anniston Army Depot

• 🛫 $28 million for Army Reserve construction and land acquisition at Maxwell Gunter Air Force Base

These projects are expected to enhance Alabama's role in defense research, logistics, and readiness for years to come.

Addressing Military Housing Safety

In response to reports of mold and toxins in Air Force housing units, Senator Britt secured an amendment requiring the Air Force to issue a report within 180 days. The report must outline the scope of the problem and detail necessary steps for remediation, marking a proactive effort to protect military families stationed in Alabama and nationwide.

Long-Term Commitment to Alabama's Defense Role

The NDAA, passed annually since 1961, sets the framework for military funding, modernization, and national security priorities. This year's act complements Senator Britt's earlier work in the 2026 Military Construction, Veterans Affairs, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act, where she advanced over $119 million for Alabama's defense infrastructure.

"I know Alabama will be indispensable to ensuring America's military readiness and unmatched lethality across the globe," Britt said. "I'm proud to advance these wins for our state and look forward to getting this funding over the finish line to bring our tax dollars home to our communities."
