Veteran Educator and Conservative Leader John Jacobs Launches Campaign for Alabama House District 37

October 7, 2025 - WOODLAND, AL. - Longtime educator, agricultural advocate, and community leader John Jacobs has officially announced his candidacy for Alabama House District 37, entering the Republican Primary scheduled for May 19, 2026. With more than four decades of public service in education and rural development, Jacobs brings a deeply rooted record of leadership and conservative values to the race.

Jacobs, a resident of Randolph County for over 40 years, is widely recognized for his 40-year career in public education, including 31 years as an administrator and three elected terms as Superintendent of Randolph County Schools. His campaign emphasizes a commitment to servant leadership, practical solutions, and local stewardship.

""I'm running for Alabama House District 37 to bring tried and true conservative values, practical solutions, and servant leadership to Montgomery," Jacobs said. "My decades of experience in education, agriculture, and community leadership have prepared me to tackle the challenges facing our district and state and bring home results that help the people of my district."

Education and Credentials

Jacobs graduated from Ranburne High School in 1974 and holds degrees in education from Jacksonville State University and the University of West Georgia. His certifications span physical education, biology, guidance and counseling, and school leadership, reflecting a broad and practical foundation in Alabama's public school system.

Agricultural and Civic Roots

Beyond the classroom, Jacobs is deeply embedded in Alabama's agricultural communities. He is an active member of the Cattlemen's Association, the Alabama Pecan Growers Association, and the Audubon Society. His hands-on experience includes work as a cattle rancher, corn farmer, timber producer, and pecan orchard owner-giving him firsthand insight into the challenges and opportunities facing rural landowners.

Jacobs has also served on the boards of several professional organizations, including:

• School Superintendents of Alabama

Community Leadership and Recognition

Jacobs' career is marked by a strong record of civic engagement. He has served on the boards of Partners in Education, United Way, and the Woodland Recreation Board, and has coached youth sports throughout Randolph County. His leadership as a principal helped transform local schools, earning him the Mike Campbell Exemplary Leadership Award.

House District 37 is currently held by Representative Bob Fincher (R), who plans to retire and not seek re-election to the seat.
