The people's voice of reason

Preview of "Young Washington" Movie Released Today

Anyone who studies the early years of George Washington notices that in his position of being a part of the Colonial Virginia gentry, but not of the same means as his class, he was born for his pivotal role in the annals of history in leading what would become the United States of America to victory against the British King George. It is this focus on the early years of George Washington during his time as a surveyor and soldier in the French American War that forms the plot of the forthcoming biopic of George Washington, "Young Washington". The preview of which was just released today by Angel Studios and the Wonder Project, who are releasing the motion picture in movie theaters on July 03rd, 2026.

The preview for "Young Washington" features the young George Washington during the Battle of Monongahela in 1755. A battle during which the Native Americans shot at George Washington, usually an easy target to strike given his height and the fact that he was mounted on top of a horse, but somehow while the bullets pierced through his clothing and several horses were shot out from under him, George Washington survived the battle, unscathed. By contrast, General Braddock was wounded in the battle and 70% of his men were either wounded or killed. In the preview for "Young Washington", George Washington is even asked by some of the military leaders, "How are you alive?" To which he replies, "I don't know." And, indeed, history does not know how he survived. The only answer lies in a Native American legend stating that this George Washington was protected by "a power mightier far than we".

The British born actor, William Franklyn-Miller is portraying George Washington in "Young Washington". At twenty-one years of age, he has the youth for portraying Washington as a young man, however, with his pretty boy face, he does not quite inspire one in the preview as convincing in the role of someone who would become the future Commander of the Continental Army. In the preview, the primary emotion that he exudes in the film is anger. It remains to be seen whether or not in the full motion picture, that will be developed more fully.

The director for "Young Washington" is Alabama's own, Jon Erwin. One of the film-making Erwin brothers, Jon was born in Birmingham, Alabama. His parents are Sheila Joyce and former state senator, Hank Erwin. He founded The Wonder Project along with Kelly Merryman Hoogstraten, which is the independent film studio releasing the "Young Washington" movie in collaboration with Angel Studios on the big screen nationwide. The theatrical release for "Young Washington" is planned for July 03rd, 2026.

The release of "Young Washington" on Independence Day weekend is planned in conjunction with the 250th Anniversary of the signing of The Declaration of Independence on July 04th, 2026. In fact, the producers of "Young Washington" are hoping to make the Washington biopic an Independence Day blockbuster by requesting that people pre-order tickets for the historical drama at https://www.angel.com/250.
