President Trump and Senator Katie Britt Unveil Historic Plan to Expand IVF Access

October 16, 2025 - WASHINGTON, D.C. – In a significant move to support American families, U.S. Senator Katie Britt (R-Ala.) joined President Donald J. Trump in the Oval Office yesterday to announce a groundbreaking plan focused on making in vitro fertilization (IVF) and other fertility treatments more affordable and accessible. President Trump acknowledged Senator Britt's instrumental role in bringing this issue to the forefront, crediting her advocacy for the new initiative.

Senator Britt has long championed efforts to create a more inclusive and supportive future for families and those aspiring to become parents. Her dedication intensified following a key Alabama Supreme Court decision in February 2024 that affected IVF access. Britt's discussions with President Trump emphasized the importance of fertility treatment availability, prompting the President to encourage the Alabama Legislature to pass protective legislation. The swift response led to Alabama Governor Kay Ivey signing a bill safeguarding IVF access statewide.

Earlier this year, Senator Britt celebrated President Trump's executive order to expand IVF treatment access nationwide, marking it as the most pro-IVF federal action in history. The President has publicly recognized Senator Britt for introducing him to the topic and inspiring federal action.

In addition to her advocacy, Senator Britt introduced the IVF Protection Act, designed to guarantee continued access to IVF across the country while respecting religious freedoms. She also rallied every Republican Senator to issue a joint statement supporting nationwide IVF access. Alongside Senator Ted Cruz, Britt co-authored a Wall Street Journal op-ed titled, "We'll Protect Both Life and IVF," emphasizing bipartisan commitment to protecting both life and fertility treatment options.

The announcement has received widespread attention, with Yellowhammer News highlighting President Trump's remarks: "Alongside Alabama U.S. Senator Katie Britt and the nation's top health officials, Trump said the directive is 'the boldest and most significant actions ever taken by any president to bring the miracle of life into more American homes.'"
