Alabama women eliminated by Texas

On Sunday, the Alabama women's basketball team was eliminated from the NCAA tournament by the number one seeded Texas Longhorns. The Crimson Tide was the number nine seed. Because the women have a different format from the men in the NCAA tournament the game was in Austin, Texas – a decided edge for the Longhorns. Texas won, in their home gym, with a score of 65 to 54.

Texas advances with a 32 and 4 record. Alabama finished the year in the second round of the NCAA tournament at 24 and 10.

Sarah Ashlee Barker was the leading scorer for the Tide with 17 points and six rebounds. Aaliyah Nye contributed 14 points and four rebounds. Loyal McQueen scored 12. Essance Cody had six points and six rebounds.

Alabama's head Coach is Kristy Curry.

"We've been on a 10-month journey, with an incredible group of young women," said Curry. "In our program, we have three core values: grit, love and gratitude. The grittiness of this group and the love they have for the front of their chest, in a day in time where that's unique, and the love that they have for each other and the game and just the gratitude every day. I'm incredibly proud to be their coach, I'm incredibly proud of the 24 wins."
