Auburn baseball will play UAB Tuesday night

On Tuesday, the University of Alabama Birmingham Blazers (UAB) baseball team will play the Auburn Tigers at Regions Field in Birmingham at 6:00 p.m.

Regions Field is located at 1401 1st Ave S, Birmingham, AL 35233 and is the home of the Birmingham Barons minor league baseball team. Tickets are $7 for youth and $12 for adults.

UAB comes into the game with a 12 and 15 record (1 and 3 in the American Athletic Conference). The Blazers are coming off a road trip where they lost all three games to East Carolina in Greenville 2 to 6, 3 to 4, and 1 to 7. The Pirates are the number fourteen ranked team in the country.

Auburn is number 21 in the country. The Tigers come into the game 16 and 11 overall and 1 and 8 in the Southeastern Conference (SEC). The Tigers are coming off a road trip to Texas A&M where they lost all three games 7 to 9, 8 to 12, and 9 to 10 (in 12 innings). The Aggies are the number four ranked team in the country.

Over the season, UAB is batting .240 while their opponents are batting .269. UAB has scored 155 runs. Their opponents have 169. UAB has hit 18 home runs to 32 for their opponents.

Over the season, Auburn is batting .282 while their opponents are batting .272. Auburn has scored 218 runs. Their opponents have scored 156. Auburn has hit 51 home runs to 32 for their opponents.

Brayton Brown has 5 home runs for the Blazers to lead the team in the category. Darryl Buggs, Logan Braunschweig, and Jake Smallwood are tied for the lead in hits at 24 each for the Blazers. Brown has 23.

Cooper McMurray has hit 11 home runs for the Tigers to lead the team in the category. Ike Irish leads the team in hits with 40. Irish also has 10 home runs. McMurray has 34 hits.

Casey Dunn is the head coach of the Blazers. This is Dunn's third season with the Blazers. Prior to that he coached Samford for 17 years where he is the winningest coach in program history. Dunn played four seasons at Auburn as catcher from 1996 to 1999. He has a 48 and 62 record with the Blazers and a 581 to 484 record overall.

Butch Thompson is the head coach of the Tigers. This is Thompson's ninth season as head coach at Auburn. He has a 272 to 198 an d1 record at Auburn. He has taken the Tigers to two NCAA College World Series. Thompson played two seasons at Itawamba Community College in his native Mississippi. He played his final two years at Birmingham Southern College.

Auburn leads the series 20 to 3. The two in-state rivals played last on February 20 with Auburn winning 7 to 2 in Auburn.
