Yale upsets Auburn

Auburn won the SEC championship; but lost in the first round of the NCAA Tournament loss to Yale. Yale defeated Auburn 78 to 76 on Friday in Spokane to end the Tigers 2023/2024 season.

"We did not take good care of the ball," said Auburn men's basketball head Coach Bruce Pearl. "We turned it over too much. They made big shots."

Auburn finished the season with a record of 27 and 8.

All-American Johni Broome led the Tigers in the loss with 24 points and 13 rebounds.

"Johni had a great year," Pearl said. "He's one of the best centers in all of college basketball as an All-American."

Denver Jones scored 17 points. Jaylin Williams scored 13 points and had five rebounds.

Chad Baker-Mazara was ejected for a flagrant foul early in the game.

Auburn is 19 and 13 all-time in NCAA Tournament games.

» Denver Jones finished with 17 points on 5-of-7 shooting from the floor, including 3-of-5 from long range and 4-of-6 from the foul line to go with one rebound against Yale. He finished the season by scoring in double figures in 11 of the last 15 games. Jones closed out the season with 51 three-pointers on 41.8 percent shooting from long range.
