The University of Alabama softball team are hosting a NCAA regional at Rhoads Field in Tuscaloosa May 17 to 19.
Clemson, Southeastern Louisiana and the University of South Carolina Upstate will all be participating this weekend in Tuscaloosa. This is the 19th-straight year that the ladies have hosted a NCAA Regional in Tuscaloosa.
Alabama (33 and 17) is the number 14 seeded team nationally.
Alabama (33-17) will face USC Upstate (30-21) on May 17 at 3:30 p.m. CDT on ESPN+.
The winner of the Tuscaloosa Regional will then go to face the winner of the Knoxville Regional. Tennessee at 40 and 10 is the number 3 seed team nationally. Tennessee will have to deal with Virginia, Miami of Ohio, and Dayton if they are to advance out of the Knoxville regional to face the winner of the Tuscaloosa regional.
Patrick Murphy is the Tide's head coach. He has a 1,271 and 372 record in his three decades coaching the Tide. The Tide has advanced to the college world series 14 times in his tenure and were the winner of the 2012 national championship. He was the interim head coach at Northwest Missouri State University before becoming the head coach at Alabama in 1995.
