Auburn to play Florida State in NCAA regional final game

Auburn softball will play Florida State in Tallahassee Sunday at 3:00 p.m. CDT.

Auburn (29-20-1) defeated Chattanooga (42-16) 9 to 0 to advance to a second elimination game. The University of Central Florida had defeated the Tigers on Friday; but in the rematch the Tigers outlasted UCF after 12 innings to decide,

Amelia Lech hit the ball in the 12th inning to drive in Makayla Packer with an RBI single to left field to give Auburn the 2 to 1 victory over UCF.

"It was a great game," said head coach Mickey Dean. "Both pitchers were outstanding. It was something special to watch. I thought both teams were tremendous."

Dean is retiring at the end of this season.

Maddie Penta pitched 15.0 innings striking out 26 batters.
