Montgomery Biscuits win home opener

The Montgomery Biscuits Baseball team won their home opener over the Pensacola Blue Wahoos on Tuesday night 9 to 0.

Nine players for the Biscuits recorded hits and seven scored runs in the contest.

Designated batter Kenny Piper kicked off the offensive spectacle with a home run in the second inning. Piper finished with two runs on three at bats.

Short stop Carson Williams scored in the fourth inning when Wahoos pitcher Jonathon Bermudez threw a wild pitch.

The Biscuits scored for the third time in the sixth inning when Piper hit a single, driving in first baseman Brian Seymour.

Thd baseman Willy Vasquez hit a double driving in Piper.

Right fielder Nick Schnell hit a single that drove in Vasquez. Left fielder Heriberto Hernandez advanced to 2nd.

Center fielder Dru Baker hit a single that drove in Hernandez. Schnell advanced to third.

Williams hit a single that drove in Schnell.

Catcher Dominic Keegan hit a single that drove in Baker and Williams.

Pitcher Ben Peoples got the start for the Biscuits. People gave up no runs in five innings pitched. He struck out five batters.

Kevin Boles is the manager of the Biscuits. Boles previously was the manager of the Triple-A Syracuse Mets – an affiliate of the New York Mets.

The win raises the Biscuits to 2 and 2 on the season.

The Biscuits are the Double-A affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays.

Wednesday's game was postponed due to inclement weather.

The Biscuits will play the Blue Wahoos in Montgomery on Thursday at 6:35 p.m.

The Biscuits will follow that with the Blue Wahoos on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. They will make up Wednesday's game in a double header on Sunday.
