Tide baseball team falls to number one rated Arkansas

The University of Arkansas baseball team defeated the University of Alabama on Friday in Tuscaloosa 5 to 3.

Arkansas is the number one ranked team in the country so presents a considerable challenge for the Tide.

Rob Vaughn is the Coach of the Tide baseball team.

"We didn't get it done, but when I see a team that is coming in and battling each day the way that we did tonight, then we are going to be just fine when the dust settles," Vaughn said.

Third baseman Rob Gage had 2 hits and a run in the loss.

Short stop Justin Lebron contributed 3 hits and an RBI in just 4 at bats for the Tide.

Left fielder Ian Petrutz added 1 run and 1 RBI.

The loss means that Alabama falls to 22 and 9 overall and 4 and 9 in the SEC. Arkansas improves to 30 and 3 in the season and 12 and 1 in the conference.

Alabama gets another shot at Arkansas on Saturday afternoon at 5:00 p.m. at Sewell-Thomas Stadium.

Left-handed pitcher Greg Farone will be the starter for the Tide. The game will be televised on the SEC Network+.

Alabama will also play Arkansas on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
