Tuberville and colleagues condemn anti-Israel protests commend UNC fraternity members for defense of American flag

U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville (R-Alabama) recently joined Senator Ted Budd (R-North Carolina) and eight colleagues in a resolution condemning the violent antisemitic protests, which have erupted across college campuses. The resolution applauds the actions of University of North Carolina (UNC) fraternity members who protected the American flag after protestors attempted to replace it with a Palestinian flag.

The resolution also applauds UNC interim Chancellor Lee Roberts for standing up to protestors, along with law enforcement officers in New York who have taken a stand against anti-American protestors.

"Since April 18, 2024, more than 1,500 individuals have been arrested on campuses of institutions of higher education for engaging in violent, anti-Israel and anti-American protests," the resolution reads. "Thousands of patriotic law enforcement officials have spent countless hours protecting the people of the United States from the violence at these protests. [...]"

"A group of patriotic fraternity brothers at the University of North Carolina protected the American flag from being desecrated and replaced with a Palestinian flag by violent, anti-American and anti-Israel individuals. [...] The people of the United States celebrate these patriotic fraternity brothers at the University of North Carolina and have sought to recognize and reward their heroic actions against the violent, anti-American and anti-Israel individuals. [...] Fraternities can serve as institutions that promote patriotism, brotherhood, and overall support for the common good."

Senator Tuberville was joined by Senators John Barrasso (R-Wyoming), Marsha Blackburn (R-Tennessee), Ted Budd (R-North Carolina), Mike Crapo (R-Idaho), Ted Cruz (R-Texas), Joni Ernst (R-Iowa), Mike Lee (R-Utah), Jim Risch (R-Idaho), and Marco Rubio (R-Florida).

U.S. Representative Dan Bishop (R-NC-08) introduced a bicameral resolution in the House.

Tuberville has been very supportive of Israel since they were attacked by Hamas terrorists back in October. He has also been very critical of the often-antisemitic protests that pro-Palestinian groups have held on a number of college campuses across the nation.
