On Sunday, the University of Florida defeated the University of South Alabama softball team in the Gainesville NCAA regional.
South Alabama defeated Florida Atlantic on Friday 1 to 0 in a pitching due. They then lost to Florida on Saturday 9 to 1. In the double elimination tournament, South Alabama went on to defeat Florida Gulf Coast 5 to 1 to advance to the NCAA regional title game where they played Florida again Sunday. For the second time Florida won 9 to 1 to advance to the NCAA super regional.
South Alabama's season ended the season with 34 wins, 20 losses, and 1 tie.
South Alabama did advance to the playoffs where they went 2 and 2.
