ALEA reports the passing of retired K-9 officer

In a statement on social media, the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) announced the passing of retired K-9 officer Mary Jane.

ALEA wrote, "It is with great sadness that we share the passing of retired ALEA K-9 Mary Jane who passed away on Friday, June 7. A Belgian Malinois, who loved working. She took a medical retirement in 2022 after serving the Agency for almost ten years with Cpl. James Hendrix. Mary Janes loved to work and was responsible for hundreds of criminal charges, over $500,000 in asset seizures, and took countless drugs off the street. She made friends everywhere she went, including the schools she visited. She will be dearly missed by all who loved her."

"Thank you, Mary Jane for all the years of service to the State of Alabama and ALEA. Rest in peace sweet girl!"
