024 Governor's Mansion Holiday Candlelight Tour Dates Announced

A particular Montgomery area delight of the Christmas and holiday season, the dates for the 2024 Governor's Mansion Candlelight Tours have been announced. And they are Monday, December 09th, 2024 from 5:30PM through 7:30PM and Monday December 16th, 2024. With the December 16th date including two time slots to tour the Governor's mansion, an afternoon one from 2:00PM through 3:30PM and then an evening tour time from 5:30PM through 7:30PM

Located at 1142 South Perry Street in Montgomery, the Governor's Mansion Candlelight Tours feature particularly lovely holiday decorations in each room of the downstairs floor of the Governor's Mansion. The decorations are done by various designers in the state who volunteer to decorate the Governor's Mansion. And they generally reflect exceptionally elegant taste. Seasonal music is also provided throughout the tours by accomplished high school musicians in Alabama.

The tours are self-guided and while tickets are required to attend the Governor's Mansion Holiday Candlelight Tours, the tickets are free. It is best to call ahead and reserve the tickets, however. And they can be obtained from the Governor's Mansion Gift Shop at (334) 242-3720 and the Tourism Gift Shop at (334) 242 3720.

Being the first house in the Montgomery area that sold for $100,000 USD, the Governor's Mansion is an antebellum style home that was built in 1907 at the request of Robert Ligon, Jr. Governor Gordon Persons and his family became the first to occupy the mansion after it was purchased by the state when Governor Persons assumed office on January 15th, 1951. With Governor Brewer's wife, Martha, establishing a First Ladies Parlor in the former library of the Governor's Mansion. A parlor that features portraits of the Governor's wives who have lived in the mansion.
