May 6, 2025 - WASHINGTON, D.C. – President Trump has been in office for over 100 days. The Inspector General's report has confirmed that the decision to base Space Command in Colorado instead of Huntsville was not due to any superior qualifications for Colorado; but rather was a reflection of the hyper-partisanism of the Biden administration. Some in the Alabama Congressional delegation are urging the Air Force to announce that Space Command will be relocated to Huntsville.
During an oversight hearing of the House Appropriations Committee Tuesday, Congressman Robert Aderholt (AL-04) publicly reaffirmed that Huntsville, Alabama, and Redstone Arsenal remain the most qualified and appropriate location for U.S. Space Command Headquarters.
In his remarks directed at Acting Air Force Secretary Gary Ashworth, Aderholt emphasized that Redstone Arsenal was chosen for Space Command's permanent location in 2021 but has been "homeless" since.
Congressman Aderholt's comments come amid ongoing concerns over the Biden Administration's reversal of the Air Force's original basing decision. The Government Accountability Office (GAO) and the Department of Defense Inspector General (DoD IG) both previously validated the objectivity and integrity of the process that ranked Huntsville as the top location.

As Chairman of the Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor, Health & Human Services, and Education, and a senior member of the Defense Appropriations Subcommittee, Aderholt continues to be a leading advocate for Alabama's defense infrastructure and strategic capabilities.
"This is about more than a ZIP code," Aderholt added. "It's about ensuring that our military decisions are based on strategy, capability, and readiness - not politics."
