Derek Chen joins the Brandon and Christopher podcast

May 3, 2025 - Attorney Derek Chen joined the Brandon and Christopher Show podcast to discuss his candidacy for the Republican nomination for state auditor. Auditor is an open seat in 2026 because current Auditor Andrew Sorrell is running for Secretary of State.

Chen came to Alabama in 2018 after being born and raised in California. He did his undergraduate in Michigan and then came to Alabama to study law at Samford University's Cumberland School of Law. He also has a master's in business administration from the University of Alabama. Chen is a lifelong Republican.

Chen discussed his involvement in Republican politics, why he is running for state auditor, and what his campaign will focus on.

Chen faces Dadeville businessman Robert McCollum who is also running for Auditor as a Republican.
