Steve Marshall Declares Candidacy for U.S. Senate

May 29, 2025 – MONTGOMERY, AL – Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall (R) has officially announced his candidacy for the United States Senate.

This follows the announcement on Tuesday that popular Senator Tommy Tuberville (R-Alabama) will be leaving the Senate at the end of this term to run for Governor of Alabama,

Marshall has served as Attorney General since 2017. Marshall was appointed the Marshall County District Attorney in 2001. His experience as a district attorney provided him with a solid foundation for his role as Attorney General. As AG he has frequently filed lawsuits pushing back against the efforts of the Biden Administration to expand presidential power at the expense of Alabama workers, students, farmers, and businesses.

Marshall is a native of Atmore. He has a bachelor's degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He earned his law degree from the University of Alabama School of Law. After college he worked as a prosecutor.

In a statement released during his campaign announcement, Marshall outlined his vision for the future and his reasons for seeking a seat in the U.S. Senate.

"I believe that Alabama deserves a strong voice in Washington, D.C., someone who will stand up for our values and fight for our rights," said Marshall. "I am dedicated to ensuring that our conservative principles are represented and that we continue to uphold the Constitution."

Marshall's campaign is expected to focus on a range of key issues, including national security, economic growth, healthcare reform, and education. His platform emphasizes the importance of limited government, individual liberties, and a robust national defense. He has also expressed his commitment to addressing the concerns of everyday Alabamians, promising to prioritize their needs and interests in his policies.

National Security and Defense

One of the cornerstones of Marshall's campaign is his stance on national security and defense. He has consistently advocated for a strong military presence and believes in maintaining and enhancing the United States' defense capabilities.

"Our nation's security is paramount," Marshall stated. "We must ensure that our armed forces are well-equipped and ready to respond to any threat."

Marshall has also highlighted the importance of supporting veterans and military families. He has pledged to work towards improving healthcare services for veterans, expanding job opportunities, and providing the necessary support for those who have served the country.

Economic Growth

Marshall's economic agenda focuses on creating a favorable environment for businesses to thrive. He has advocated for reducing regulations, lowering taxes, and promoting free-market policies.

"A strong economy is the backbone of a prosperous society," Marshall said. "We need to create opportunities for businesses to grow and succeed, which in turn will create jobs and improve the quality of life for all Alabamians."

His plan includes measures to support small businesses, foster innovation, and attract investments to the state. Marshall believes that by empowering entrepreneurs and providing the necessary resources, Alabama can achieve sustained economic growth.

Healthcare Reform

Healthcare is another critical issue on Marshall's agenda. He has expressed concerns about the rising costs of healthcare and the need for reform to make it more affordable and accessible.

"Healthcare should be a right, not a privilege," Marshall stated. "We need to find solutions that reduce costs while ensuring that everyone has access to quality care."

Marshall's approach includes advocating for free-market solutions, increasing competition among healthcare providers, and reducing the regulatory burden on the healthcare industry. He aims to work towards a system that balances affordability with high-quality care.

Education

Education is a priority for Marshall, who believes that a strong education system is essential for the future of Alabama. He has called for reforms that prioritize student achievement and teacher support.

"Our children deserve the best education possible," Marshall said. "We need to invest in our schools, support our teachers, and ensure that every child has the opportunity to succeed."

His plans include increasing funding for schools, enhancing vocational and technical education programs, and promoting school choice. Marshall believes that by empowering parents and providing more options for education, Alabama can build a stronger future for its students.
