May 23, 2025 – WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville (R-Alabama) denounced growing antisemitism around the world after two Israeli embassy employees were gunned down in Washington D.C. on Wednesday night.
Tuberville released a statement the morning after the senseless attack on the young couple.
“I want to begin today by extending my condolences to the families of the two Israeli embassy staffers who were tragically murdered by a terrorist in our nation’s capital just last night,” said Tuberville. “For the last four years radical Democrats have chanted ‘Free Palestine’ and have stood by as antisemitism has taken over our woke college campuses. Democrats own this 100 percent, and their talk is cheap. Thank God for President Trump who has zero tolerance for antisemitism or terrorism in this country.”
The murderer was Elias Rodriguez – a 31-year old from Chicago. He shouted “Free Palestine” which has become an antisemitic slogan that is repeated across the country in protests and on college campuses.
“Terrorists chant ‘Death to America.’ Under the Trump administration we say death to terrorism,” Tuberville concluded.
Protestors claim that they are supporting Palestinians, not being antisemitic – a claim that Tuberville strongly refuted on his X social media account on Friday.
“Pro-Palestine activists are not peacefully protesting; they are a mob calling for violence and bloodshed,” said Sen. Tuberville. “And Democrats have empowered them.”
The victims of a fatal shooting outside the Jewish Museum in Washington, D.C., were identified as a young couple who worked at the Israeli Embassy.
The Israeli Foreign Ministry identified the victims as Yaron Lischinsky and Sarah Lynn Milgrim. Both were embassy staff members. The Israeli Embassy said that the pair were "in the prime of their lives."
"No words can express the depth of our grief and horror at this devastating loss," the embassy said in a statement on social media. "Our hearts are with their families, and the embassy will be by their side during this terrible time."
Yechiel Leiter is Israel's ambassador to the United States.
Ambassador Leiter told reporters the pair was a "beautiful couple."
The ambassador said that Lischinsky had purchased an engagement ring "with the intention of proposing to his girlfriend next week in Jerusalem."
President Donald J. Trump (R) condemned the slayings and the growing antisemitism that was directly responsible for their deaths.
“These horrible D.C. killings, based obviously on antisemitism, must end,” President Trump said on his Truth Social account. “NOW! Hatred and Radicalism have no place in the USA. Condolences to the families of the victims. So sad that such things as this can happen! God Bless You ALL!”
