Katie Britt said that the Lawlessness around the nation will not stand

June 10, 2025 - WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Katie Britt (R-Alabama) joined National Report on Newsmax to discuss the recent violent riots in Los Angeles targeting law enforcement and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials. The Republican Senator said that it is important to support law enforcement and this, "Lawlessness will not stand."

"We have to make sure that our law enforcement officers are supported," said Senator Britt. 'Back the Blue' is not just a saying, it is an action."

Sen. Britt slammed both California Governor Gavin Newsom (D) and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass for their inaction.

"When we look at the ineffective and weak leadership of both the mayor and the governor, we have to show strength," said Sen. Britt. "The lawlessness across our nation will not stand. This is exactly what happens when you have a sanctuary city ... And unfortunately, we see Democrats once again defending sanctuary cities, wanting to defund ICE, and you have Republicans standing up and wanting to not only defend ICE but defend our American citizens. This is the actual epitome of America First from President Trump's leadership and America Last from Gavin Newsom's."

Britt went on to criticize Democrats for hindering law enforcement efforts and for undermining immigration laws.

"This is more of the same from the Democratic Party. I mean, you saw them defend a 'Maryland man' who was actually a man from El Salvador," said Britt. "They are more interested in defending a wife-beater who actually traversed our country, trafficking men, women, and children than they are standing up for law-abiding citizens."

Sen. Britt thanked President Trump for his efforts to deport criminal illegal aliens.

"I am so grateful for the strength that President Trump is showing," Sen. Britt said. "And when you have weakness shown by Gavin Newsom and the mayor and obviously, unfortunately, other representatives of that area, we will stand in the gap to make sure that our citizens are protected."

On Tuesday Gov. Newsom asked a federal judge to immediately intervene to limit Trump's deployment of the National Guard in L.A. Newsom asked for immediate action from the Court to halt President Trump's efforts to crack down on the rioters.

U.S. District Judge Charles Breyer granted the Trump administration's request for more time to respond to Newsom's request. The administration has until 11 a.m. PDT on Wednesday to submit its arguments.

"The court did not deny or rule on the Governor's request for a temporary restraining order," Newsom's spokesperson said. "The court set a hearing for Thursday, after the federal government and the state file additional briefs, and we anticipate the court will rule on the request for a TRO a short time later."

However Judge Breyer rules, the side that loses will likely appeal.

Meanwhile, mass protests in support of the California rioters are being planned across the nation.

In Texas Gov. Abbott has deployed the National Guard troops to San Antonio to help law enforcement keep the peace.

"Peaceful protests are part of the fabric of our nation, but Texas will not tolerate the lawlessness we have seen in Los Angeles," Abbott's press secretary Andrew Mahaleris said Tuesday night. "Anyone engaging in acts of violence or damaging property will be swiftly held accountable to the full extent of the law."

Saturday's planned protest in downtown San Antonio is being organized by the 50501 Movement in collaboration with the Bexar County Democratic Party, the Party for Socialism and Liberation, Indivisible, and Women's March.

The New York Times is reporting that protest organizers have told them that nationwide protests are planned for Saturday against Trump and a military parade in Washington he organized for the Army's 250th anniversary.

Mobile County Sheriff Paul Birch has told 1819 News that a protest is planned for Mobile on Saturday.

Meanwhile the 400 National Guardsmen and 700 Marines that Trump has deployed to L.A. are providing security for ICE agents as they conduct mass raids pursue criminal illegals.
