August 13, 2025 - HOOVER, AL – The Alabama Republican Party applauds President Donald J. Trump for appointing three exceptional judicial nominees to federal court positions in Alabama. Each nominee brings a wealth of legal experience, a proven record of integrity, and a strong commitment to the Constitution.

The nominees-Justice Bill Lewis, Edmund "Eddie" LaCour, and Harold "Hal" Mooty-were recommended to the White House by Alabama's U.S. Senators Katie Britt and Tommy Tuberville after careful consideration.

Alabama Supreme Court Justice Bill Lewis

Justice Bill Lewis, currently serving on the Alabama Supreme Court, has an extensive judicial background, including service on the Alabama Court of Civil Appeals and as Presiding Circuit Judge of the 19th Judicial Circuit. In addition to his judicial career, Lewis is the longtime Chairman of the Elmore County Republican Party and a valued member of the Alabama Republican Party State Executive Committee. Edmund "Eddie" LaCour currently serves as Alabama's Solicitor General and is widely recognized for his sharp legal mind and dedication to upholding the rule of law. Harold "Hal" Mooty, a Huntsville-based partner with Bradley Arant Boult Cummings, LLP, has built a reputation as a skilled litigator and respected leader within Alabama's legal community.
