Cindy Myrex wins Special Republican Primary election in HD12

August 12, 2025 - CULLMAN, AL - Voters in portions of Cullman County went to the polls today for the Special Republican Primary Runoff in Alabama House District 12 and voted to elect Cindy Myrex as the Republlican choice to lead HD12 going forward.

100% of precincts are reporting.

Clint Hollingsworth: received 2,160 votes, 41.47%; while Cindy Myrex received 3,048 votes, 58.53%. Myrex had almost won without a runoff four weeks ago so Tuesday's results were not unexpected.

Lee Haynes, president of the Cullman County Farmers Federation, praised her win.

"Cindy's victory demonstrates how willing public servants can make a difference for their communities when they work hard and listen to their neighbors," Haynes said."

Alabama Republican Party Chief of Staff Shannon Whitt released the following statement:

"We are grateful to Clint Hollingsworth and Cindy Myrex for running strong campaigns in this important race. Public service requires commitment and sacrifice, and both candidates demonstrated their dedication to the people of House District 12. We look forward to supporting our Republican nominee in the Special General Election this October and keeping this seat in GOP hands."

The winner of this race will advance to the Special General Election on October 28, 2025. Matt Glover is the Democratic party nominee

This seat became vacant earlier this year when State Representative Corey Harbison resigned from the Alabama House of Representatives to spend more time with his family.
