Conservative commentator Charlie Kirk has been assassinated

September 10, 2025 – OREM, UTAH - Charlie Kirk, the 31-year-old founder of Turning Point USA and a prominent conservative voice, was shot and killed today while speaking at Utah Valley University during the kickoff of his "American Comeback Tour." The incident occurred just after noon local time, sending shockwaves through political and campus communities nationwide.

President Donald J. Trump (R) announced on Truth Social: "The Great, and even Legendary, Charlie Kirk, is dead. No one understood or had the Heart of the Youth in the United States of America better than Charlie. He was loved and admired by ALL, especially me, and now, he is no longer with us. Melania and my Sympathies go out to his beautiful wife Erika, and family. Charlie, we love you!"

Millions of conservatives across the country were shocked by his shooting and had been praying for his recovery.

Alabama Senate Pro Tem Garlan Gudger (R-Cullman) said on X: "I join millions across the USA in praying for Charlie Kirk and asking God to guide the doctors treating him. Our nation was built on the right to share your ideas openly, and silencing peaceful speech that you don't like with violence and gunfire must never be tolerated."

Sadly those prayers went unanswered.

Kirk has visited Alabama on several occasions. Many Republican leaders met Kirk when he was the featured speaker to the Republican State Executive Committee.

U.S. Senator

• Kirk was seated under a pop-up tent engaging students in a Q&A session when a single shot rang out and struck him in the neck sending a gusher of blood from the wound as he fell to the ground.

• Witnesses report he was struck in the neck and immediately collapsed.

• Panic ensued as attendees fled the scene; university police quickly secured the area.

• The shot was reportedly fired from a nearby building approximately 200 yards away.

Law Enforcement Response

• A suspect was apprehended shortly after the shooting and is currently in custody. Reports are that the police are searching for a second suspect.

• Utah Valley University issued a shelter-in-place alert and confirmed the attack targeted a visiting speaker.

• FBI and ATF agents have joined the investigation, with federal officials monitoring the situation closely.

A spokesperson for Turning Point USA stated, "It doesn't look good," and confirmed he was rushed to a hospital. It has since been confirmed that he has died on the operating table.

• Prior to news of his dead, President Donald J. Trump (R) posted on Truth Social: "We must all pray for Charlie Kirk, who has been shot. A great guy from top to bottom. GOD BLESS HIM!".
