September 23, 2025 - LEEDS, AL. – Voters in the City of Leeds went to the polls and voted Eddie Moore to be the new Mayor.
Moore defeated longtime city councilman Kenneth Washington in the Mayoral runoff election.
Incumbent Mayor David Miller did not seek election.
Moore received 1,516 votes (59.9%) versus Washington's 1,014 votes (40.1%).
Moore credited the high turnout for his nearly 20 point margin of victory.
"It's unbelievable, the turnout we had," said Moore.
"I am taken aback by their very presence today," said Moore. "I've spoken today to hundreds of people that came to vote. Over 1,500 of them voted for me and that is a feeling I don't have the vocabulary to tell you. I don't."
Moore is the chairman of the Leeds Water Works Board.
Leeds has a population of 12,574.
Leeds is an industrial town 12 miles to the east of Birmingham on I-20 and the railroad is in Jefferson, St. Clair, and Shelby County.
