Georgia Bulldogs Extend Dominance Over Auburn Tigers in Deep South's Oldest Rivalry

October 11, 2025 – AUBURN, AL. – In a gritty showdown at Jordan-Hare Stadium on October 11, 2025, the No. 9 Georgia Bulldogs rallied past the Auburn Tigers 20-10, notching their ninth consecutive win in the storied Deep South’s Oldest Rivalry. The victory improved Georgia’s record to 5-1 (3-1 SEC), while Auburn fell to 3-3 (0-3 SEC), continuing a frustrating conference stretch.

The game began with Auburn striking first. Quarterback Jackson Arnold capped off a strong opening drive with a 2-yard touchdown run, giving the Tigers a 7-0 lead. Auburn added a field goal in the second quarter, extending their advantage to 10-3. Georgia struggled offensively early, managing only a 29-yard field goal by Peyton Woodring before halftime.

Momentum shifted dramatically late in the second quarter when Georgia linebacker CJ Allen forced a fumble at the goal line, preventing Auburn from potentially going up 17-3. That defensive stand ignited the Bulldogs, who came out of halftime with renewed energy.

In the third quarter, Georgia’s Chauncey Bowens powered in a 2-yard touchdown run, followed by a booming 53-yard field goal from Woodring. The Bulldogs took a 13-10 lead into the final frame. With just under two minutes remaining, quarterback Gunner Stockton sealed the win with a 10-yard scramble into the end zone, pushing the score to 20-10.

Statistically, the game was a defensive battle. Georgia managed 296 total yards, while Auburn was held to 277. Allen led the Bulldogs with 10 tackles, a sack, and a pass breakup, but his forced fumble was the game’s turning point.

The win marked a milestone for Georgia head coach Kirby Smart, who now holds a 110-20 record—surpassing Bob Stoops for the most FBS wins in a coach’s first 10 seasons in the modern era. Georgia also matched its longest winning streak in the rivalry, tying the nine-game run from 1923 to 1931.

For Auburn, the loss deepens concerns as they remain winless in SEC play. Despite a strong start, the Tigers couldn’t maintain momentum and were outplayed in the second half.

Georgia’s resilience and defensive prowess once again proved decisive, reinforcing their status as a perennial SEC powerhouse. As the Bulldogs continue their march toward playoff contention, Auburn is left searching for answers in a season slipping from their grasp.
