Montgomery Unites for Community Food Event Amid Federal Cuts

November 6, 2025 - MONTGOMERY, AL - In response to recent federal cuts impacting families across the city, Montgomery's leaders are stepping up to support residents with a community-centered event focused on food, fellowship, and resilience.

On Thursday, November 6, 2025, from 4:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., the City of Montgomery, in partnership with Councilwoman Franetta Riley (District 4) and the Department of Economic & Community Development, will host "Neighbors and Flavors Montgomery" at the Old St. Jude Hospital Lot.

This free, family-friendly event will feature local food trucks, minority farmers, and opportunities for neighbors to connect and support one another. The event aims to uplift small businesses while ensuring continued access to affordable, healthy food options for Montgomery families.

"Neighbors and Flavors" will spotlight two local minority farmers and three local food trucks, showcasing the heart and hustle of Montgomery's small business community. The first 50 families to arrive will receive free groceries, thanks to the support of Councilwoman Riley and David, a dedicated local farmer and longtime community partner.

"This initiative is more than an event - it's a promise," said Councilwoman Riley. "A promise that in times of uncertainty, your city will not sit back and let you face these challenges alone. We are standing with you, working for you, and building solutions together - one neighborhood at a time."

Residents are encouraged to attend, enjoy a meal, and connect with neighbors in a spirit of unity and support. For more information or to register for giveaways, visit the QR code on the event flyer or contact the District 4 Office at (334) 414-5305.
