Montgomery Academy Cardinal Flag Football Team Captures City League Championship

MONTGOMERY, AL - The Montgomery Academy Cardinal first and second grade flag football team capped off a remarkable playoff run by winning the city league championship, going undefeated through four consecutive games.

Led by a talented group of second graders-Dustin Lee, Hugh Lavelle, Emmanuel Wilson, Perry Hooper, and John Philip Bryan-the team showcased skill, teamwork, and determination throughout the postseason. Their efforts culminated in a hard-fought 21-7 victory over Pike Road's Pack Attack in the championship game.

Perry Hooper and Lee Bishop shared duties at quarterback and running back, combining for multiple completed passes and long touchdown runs that energized the team and kept the offense moving. Emmanuel Wilson emerged as a standout performer, leading the team in touchdown receptions and catches. His consistent playmaking proved critical in each playoff matchup, and he also led the team in interceptions, contributing on both sides of the ball.

Defensively, Hugh Lavelle, Dustin Lee, and John Philip Bryan delivered key stops at crucial moments, helping the Cardinals shut down opposing drives and get off the field on fourth downs. Collier Arant anchored the defensive line with a team-high number of sacks, applying pressure and disrupting plays throughout the playoffs.

Eddie Williams and Everest Woods added valuable contributions with positive yardage on several runs, helping maintain offensive momentum and field position.

The championship win was the result of a complete team effort, with players stepping up in every phase of the game. The Cardinals' undefeated playoff streak reflects not only their athletic ability but also their discipline and teamwork at a young age.

Montgomery Academy's youth program continues to build a strong foundation for future success, and this season's championship run is a testament to the dedication of its players, coaches, and families.

The Cardinals are coached by Dr. Perry O. Hooper III - a skilled orthopedist with Southern Orthopedic Surgeons.
