HOUSTON COUNTY -, November 21 - The Alabama Farmers Federation has announced its endorsement of Rep. Rick Rehm for Alabama House District 85, which encompasses portions of Houston and Henry counties.

"Rep. Rehm is a veteran and a conservative who has served us well in Montgomery. We know he will continue his good work when reelected," said George Jeffcoat, president of the Houston County Farmers Federation. "We support his reelection efforts and look forward to his service in working with our farmers and all the people of this district."

Henry County farmers also expressed support.

"Rep. Rehm is a conservative's conservative who has served us well in the past. We have no doubt he will in the future," said Johnny Lee, Henry County Farmers Federation president. "We look forward to working with him four more years."

In 1990, Rehm enlisted in the U.S. Army and served with the 101st Airborne Division and the 128th Aviation Brigade. After honorable discharge, he served as an Army civilian at Fort Rucker. He retired after 24 years of service as a GS-15 – the highest rank in civil service.

In the House of Representatives, Rehm serves on the Financial Services Committee; Children and Senior Advocacy Committee; and Urban and Rural Development Committee. He was recently appointed by House Speaker Nathaniel Ledbetter to serve on the Military Stability Commission.

"I believe agriculture is the backbone of the Wiregrass economy and a critical component of national security," said Rehm. "For this reason and more, I am honored to have the endorsement of Alabama's farmers."

Rehm and his wife, Eden, have been married for 22 years.

The Alabama Farmers Federation is the state's largest farm organization with more than 360,000 member families. It uses a true grassroots approach to select candidates, relying on Alabama FarmPAC endorsements from county Farmers Federation boards of directors for local elections.
