Rep. Adline Clarke to Deliver Alabama House Democratic Caucus Response to Gov. Ivey's State of the State Address

January 12, 2026 - MONTGOMERY - The Alabama House Democratic Caucus announced that Rep. Adline Clarke of Mobile (HD‑97) will deliver the caucus' official response to Gov. Kay Ivey's State of the State Address on Tuesday, January 13, 2026.

Gov. Ivey's address is scheduled for 6 p.m. at the Alabama State Capitol. Immediately afterward, Rep. Clarke's remarks will be broadcast on Blueprint Alabama's Facebook page as well as the Alabama House Democratic Caucus Facebook page.

Rep. Clarke, a veteran legislator and longtime advocate for economic and community development, said she is honored to speak on behalf of House Democrats at a moment when many Alabama families are feeling financial strain.

"I am honored and grateful to be selected to deliver our House Democratic Caucus' response to the Governor's address," Clarke said. "Throughout Alabama, people have made it clear that affordability is their number one issue. They understand it on a very personal level. They see it in their grocery store receipts and in their bank balances and they know it's time for a major course correction."

Clarke said the caucus' 2026 legislative agenda is built around that message of economic urgency and the need for a new direction.

"They understand that Alabama cannot afford to continue down the path it's on," she said. "That's why the 2026 Alabama House Democratic Caucus legislative agenda is laser‑focused on creating an Alabama we can all afford."

According to Clarke, the caucus' priorities for the upcoming session include:

- Economic innovation and growth aimed at reducing household costs and strengthening local economies

- Protecting and expanding investments in public education, from early learning to workforce preparation

- Increasing access to affordable health care, particularly in underserved communities

- Safeguarding voting rights and ensuring fair access to the ballot

- Promoting reforms to Alabama's justice system to improve safety and reduce systemic inequities

Clarke's response is expected to outline how House Democrats plan to advance these goals during the 2026 legislative session, offering a contrast in policy direction as the state enters a pivotal year.
