The people's voice of reason

Announcement: Of Passion and Promise with the Alabama Symphony Orchestra

Join Music Director Carlos Izcaray and the Alabama Symphony Orchestra for Of Passion and Promise - an inspiring evening that celebrates the resilience of the human spirit through three iconic works by Bernstein, Tchaikovsky, and Copland.

The program opens with Leonard Bernstein's Overture to Candide, a dazzling burst of energy filled with wit, sparkle, and unmistakable American optimism. It's the perfect curtain‑raiser for a night built on vitality and hope.

Acclaimed pianist Asiya Korepanova then takes the stage for Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto No. 1, one of the most beloved concertos ever written. From its thunderous opening chords to its sweeping lyricism, this masterpiece blends virtuosity and emotional depth in a way that never fails to move audiences.

The evening concludes with Aaron Copland's Symphony No. 3, a radiant and uplifting work that weaves themes from his famous Fanfare for the Common Man into a grand musical statement about courage, renewal, and the promise of tomorrow.

This is a night that bridges continents, emotions, and musical traditions - a celebration of creativity, resilience, and our shared humanity. We would be honored to have you join us.
