J.D. Vance endorses Barry Moore in U.S. Senate race

February 19, 2026 - ENTERPRISE, Al – Vice President J.D. Vance announced that he has endorsed Congressman Barry Moore in the U.S. Senate race. This was expected as President Donald J. Trump (R) had already endorsed Moore's candidacy and it would be extremely odd for the VP to choose a different candidate than the President.

"President Trump needs proven allies in the Senate who will fight for his America First agenda without hesitation," Vice President Vance said. "Barry Moore has been that ally from day one. I've personally endorsed Barry's campaign because I've seen his character and commitment firsthand. He's exactly the kind of fighter President Trump needs in the Senate."

Moore thanked the Vice President for the endorsement.

"Vice President Vance has never backed down from the America First fight, and I'm proud to have him join me in this one," Rep. Moore said. "Besides President Trump, no one has done more in the last year to end illegal immigration, drain the DC swamp, and restore affordability to working families. I'm proud to have both of their endorsements, and I look forward to joining their fight in the Senate."

Barry Moore was born and raised in Coffee County. Moore graduated from Auburn University with a degree in agriculture. After graduation he returned home to Enterprise, where he and his wife, Heather, started their own waste management company. He is a veteran of the Alabama National Guard Reserves. In 2010 Moore was elected to the Alabama House of Representatives as part of the first Republican House majority in 135 years. He was re-elected in 2014. In 2018 he challenged incumbent Congresswoman Martha Roby (Montgomery) in the Republican primary for Alabama's Second Congressional District and lost. Roby did not run for re-election in 2020. Moore beat out 16 other Republicans and the Democratic nominee to win the open seat in Congress. He was easily re-elected in 2022. In 2024 the federal court redrew Alabama's congressional districts moving Coffee County and Moore from CD2 to the First Congressional District. Disappointed, but undaunted Moore ran in CD1 against the CD1 incumbent Jerry Carl (R-Mobile). Moore defeated Carl in the Republican primary and went on to defeat the Democratic nominee to win his third two-year term in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Back in August 2015, while he was still in the Alabama House of Representatives, Moore attended a massive Trump rally at Ladd-Peebles Stadium in Mobile. There he became the first elected official in the country to endorse Donald Trump for President. Moore has consistently supported Trump in the last three presidential election as well as in Congress.

Winning the endorsement of Trump in the Senate race was a big boost for the Moore campaign.

Moore is a member of the House Freedom Caucus. He was rated both the most conservative member in Alabama by CPAC and the state's most effective legislator by the Center for Legislative Excellence. Barry and Heather have four children, two grandchildren, and two dogs. He and Heather still live in Coffee County.

Moore faces a crowded Republican field for U.S. Senate. Rancher and businessman Rodney Walker, former Tuberville aide Morgan Murphy, Dale Shelton Deas Jr., Attorney General Steve Marshall, former Navy SEAL Jared Hudson, and Seth Burton are all running for the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate. The eventual Republican nominee will have to face a Democratic nominee (they also have four candidates) in the November general election.

Incumbent Senator Tommy Tuberville is running for Governor of Alabama.

Both of the major party primaries are on May 19.
