A new advanced manufacturing investment in Muscle Shoals represents economic growth for Northwest Alabama and strengthens America’s national defense.
Defense manufacturer Hadrian plans to establish a major production facility in the Shoals to manufacture precision components for the U.S. Navy’s submarine fleet. As the United States works to expand submarine production and modernize its naval capabilities, strengthening the domestic defense industrial base has become a national priority.
Submarines remain one of the most critical assets in the U.S. military; they provide unmatched stealth, intelligence capabilities, and strategic deterrence. Building and sustaining that fleet requires a reliable network of advanced manufacturers capable of producing highly specialized components at scale. Investments like this help ensure the U.S. maintains that capability.
Hadrian describes its model clearly: “Powered by our proprietary software, Opus, and the New American Workforce, Hadrian’s factories are engineered to deliver at unprecedented speed, scale, schedule, and quality.” Through a combination of advanced software with next-generation manufacturing, facilities like this represent the future of American industrial capability.
The investment also reflects the broader push to rebuild domestic manufacturing and strengthen supply chains under the Donald Trump America First agenda, which prioritized the reemergence of critical industries on American soil. Expanding our nation’s defense manufacturing capacity is essential for national security as well as restoring confidence in the United States as the world’s leading economic and military superpower.
For Alabama, the project reinforces our state’s leadership in defense and aerospace manufacturing. From missile and space programs at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville to the recently announced U.S. Coast Guard training facility in Birmingham to shipbuilding operations in Mobile, the state of Alabama has become a key contributor to our nation’s defense infrastructure. The new facility in Muscle Shoals strengthens that ecosystem while bringing advanced manufacturing and high-skill jobs to the Shoals region.
At a time when the United States is diligently working to rebuild domestic manufacturing capacity and secure critical supply chains, investments like Hadrian’s demonstrate how American industry supports both economic growth and national security.
From the Tennessee River to the Port of Mobile, the work completed in Muscle Shoals will help power the ships that defend the United States and prove once again that American strength is made in Alabama.
