St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church to Host Annual Spring Flea Market March 26–28

The Knights of Columbus at St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church are gearing up for one of their most anticipated community events of the year: the annual Spring Flea Market, set for March 26–28 in the church's youth center. Known for its friendly atmosphere, wide variety of items, and strong community spirit, the event has become a beloved tradition for parishioners and local families alike. The Thursday and Friday sales go from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The Saturday sales goes from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. Items remaining after 10:00 a.m. on Saturday will be heavily discounted.

This year's flea market promises an even larger selection of goods, thanks to months of preparation and generous donations from the St. Mark community. Shoppers can expect to find everything from household items and small furniture to books, toys, décor, kitchenware, seasonal items, and gently used clothing. For bargain hunters, collectors, and families looking for affordable essentials, the event offers something for everyone.

The Knights of Columbus, who organize and staff the event each year, say the flea market is about much more than raising funds. It's an opportunity to bring people together, support charitable outreach, and strengthen the bonds within the parish. "The flea market is one of our favorite events because it brings out the best of our community," said one event organizer. "People donate generously, volunteers work side by side, and families come out to shop, laugh, and enjoy the day. It's a reminder of what parish life is all about."

Proceeds from the flea market support a variety of charitable initiatives sponsored by the Knights, including local outreach programs, parish needs, the ultrasound initiative, and assistance for worthy causes. Recently Pope Leo commended the Knights of Columbus Council 13446 and St. Mark's for funding a tractor purchase for a monastery in South America. Over the years, the event has helped fund everything from food pantry support to youth programs and community service projects. Another year Council 13446 helped fund a well for a village in Africa that lacked clean drinking water.

The three‑day event will run throughout the day, with volunteers on hand to assist shoppers and keep the inventory organized. Early shoppers often arrive right at opening time to get the best selection, while others enjoy browsing at a leisurely pace. Many attendees say the conversations, camaraderie, and sense of shared purpose are just as enjoyable as the shopping itself.

In addition to the main sale, the event will include a donation station for those who wish to contribute items during the week leading up to the flea market. The Knights encourage donors to bring clean, gently used items that still have life left in them. "We're always amazed by the quality of the donations," one volunteer noted. "People really take pride in giving things that others can use and appreciate."

St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church, located on Highway 119 in Birmingham, welcomes all members of the community to attend-parishioners and non‑parishioners alike. Parking is free, admission is open to everyone, and families are encouraged to bring children along to enjoy the experience.

As the dates approach, excitement continues to build among volunteers and shoppers who look forward to this annual tradition. Whether you're searching for a unique treasure, stocking up on household essentials, or simply enjoying a friendly community event, the St. Mark flea market offers a warm and welcoming place to spend part of your week.

The Knights of Columbus invite everyone to stop by between March 26 and March 28 to browse, shop, and support the charitable work that strengthens the St. Mark community year after year.
