Moody, Ala. - A multi‑agency search for three individuals who fled from a wrecked vehicle early Wednesday morning has been called off after authorities determined the suspects likely stole another car and left the area.
The incident began when a vehicle pursuit entered Moody along Interstate 20 eastbound between the 144 and 146 mile markers. Officers successfully deployed spike strips, disabling the fleeing vehicle. After the car wrecked near the Carl Jones Road and Village Drive area, three occupants fled on foot.
Multiple agencies, including air support, assisted the Moody Police Department in an extensive search of the surrounding neighborhoods and wooded areas. A helicopter was observed overhead as officers canvassed the region.
Authorities emphasized that there was no known immediate danger to the public, though residents were urged to remain cautious given that the individuals had fled from law enforcement.
Residents in the affected area were advised to:
• Stay aware of their surroundings
• Report suspicious activity to 911
• Avoid the search area to allow officers to operate safely
After several hours of searching, investigators concluded the suspects likely stole a vehicle earlier in the morning and left the immediate area. With that development, the active search was suspended.
The Moody Police Department expressed appreciation for the assistance of partnering agencies throughout the operation. All media inquiries are being directed to the Jacksonville Police Department.
