Barry Moore Calls on Alabama Legislature to Redistrict Following Supreme Court Decision

Enterprise, AL – Congressman and U.S. Senate candidate Barry Moore is calling on the Alabama Legislature to begin a new round of redistricting following the U.S. Supreme Court's majority opinion in Louisiana v. Callais, a ruling that reshapes how federal courts may intervene in state‑drawn congressional maps.

Moore, a leading contender in Alabama's 2026 Senate race, framed the decision as a corrective to what he described as years of judicial overreach into state election processes.

"Activist judges have been abusing federal law to suppress conservative voices for too long," Moore said. "I'm grateful to the Supreme Court for this correct, Constitutional decision and call on the Alabama legislature to begin the process of redistricting.

"Alabama has stood with President Trump and the America First majority 100% of the way, and it's time our Congressional delegation reflects that. Elections should be determined by Alabama's values and candidates' ideas, not the color of anyone's skin."

The ruling arrives after a turbulent redistricting cycle in Alabama. Following Moore's first successful election to Congress in 2020, federal courts ordered the state to redraw its congressional map. The new lines placed Moore in a primary against another Republican incumbent who had previously represented much of the current 2nd Congressional District. Moore ultimately won that race, securing his second term.

Background on Barry Moore

Barry Moore was born and raised in Coffee County and has long emphasized his roots in Alabama's Wiregrass region. A Christian, husband, father, and small‑business owner, Moore served in the Alabama National Guard Reserves before entering public life.

In August 2015, at Ladd‑Peebles Stadium in Mobile, he became the first elected official in the nation to endorse Donald Trump for president. He has highlighted that early support throughout his political career and is currently the only U.S. Senate candidate in Alabama with Trump's "Complete and Total Endorsement."

Moore attended Auburn University, where he met his wife, Heather, and enlisted in the Alabama National Guard Reserves. After college, the couple founded BMI, Inc., a waste‑removal and demolition company that grew from a single truck into a long‑standing business.

Elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2020, Moore is a member of the House Freedom Caucus. He has been rated the most conservative member of Alabama's congressional delegation by CPAC and the state's most effective legislator by the Center for Legislative Excellence. In Congress, he has focused on issues affecting farmers, veterans, and small‑business owners, while opposing what he describes as federal overreach by the Biden administration.

Moore and his wife Heather have four children-Jeremy (and his wife Brittany), Kathleen (and her husband Jack), Claudia (and her husband Garrett), and Jeb-along with two grandchildren and two dogs. They continue to reside in Coffee County.

The Republican primary is May 19.
