April 14, 2026 – CHELSEA, Ala. – The mailboxes of Republican primary voters across Alabama are stuffed full of glossy double sided ads touting candidates. The American Conservative Fund is a dark money super PAC that was suddenly created this year with money entirely from out of state gambling syndicate Draft Kings.
The American Conservative Fund's mailer pieces give a return address of: 60 Chelsea Corners; PMB 2026; Chelsea, Al 35043. On Tuesday the Alabama Gazette drove to 60 Chelsea Corners. What we found was a Postnet franchise. PostNet is a global printing, shipping, and business‑services franchise offering: High‑quality printing (business cards, brochures, posters, banners, etc., graphic design, shipping via UPS, FedEx, DHL, USPS, private mailbox rental, packing services, direct mail services, and virtual mailbox and document services.
Those last two were apparently of interest to the shadowy figures attempting to influence Alabama's Republican primary.
The clerk told the Alabama Gazette that he "did not know anything" about him or the American Conservative Fund or Draft Kings. He said that all he knew was that the man had rented a virtual mailbox though them from i-postal and that they had mailed out a "huge amount" of direct mail pieces and that "He has closed his account."
The man in the shadows running the American Conservative Fund has disappeared back into the shadows in an attempt to keep his identity hidden from anyone who would ask questions about his dark money activities or the fact that the American Conservative Fund appears to have violated legal required campaign finance reporting.
The group does not identify themselves as being entirely funded by the out-of-state gambling conglomerate – Draf Kings. Draft Kings began its career encouraging sports fans with an internet connection to compete in fantasy sports online where they can win prizes by predicting which athletes will have the best statistics. When the U.S. Supreme Court overturned the law
Draft Kinks has a long history with the state of Alabama. In 2016, then Attorney General Luther Strange (R) commanded them and rival Fan Duel to cease their activities in the state of Alabama. They sought relief from the Alabama Legislature. In 2019 the Alabama House passed HB 361 by a vote of 74 to 22. That passed the Senate 22 to 8 and was signed into law by Governor Kay Ivey allowing Draft Kings and other fantasy gaming outlets to operate in Alabama even though the Alabama Constitution specifically bans games of chance.
After the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that states, other than Nevada, can authorize sports betting Draft Kings moved into the world of sports gambling, understanding that the same sort of gullible consumers who believe that they can predict which receivers catch the most receiving yards or which basketball players have the most points and rebounds are the same type people who will get addicted to sports betting.
Sports betting remains illegal in Alabama. Draft Kings wants the Alabama Constitution to change. To further that end they (and other out of state gambling syndicates) are donating to candidates in the 2026 Alabama elections. Draft Kings is also funding the misleadingly named shadow PAC – American Conservative Fund, which is funding direct mailers, Youtube commercials, and TV commercials promoting candidates they believe are supportive of their efforts to change the Alabama Constitution in ways that will benefit them.
The Republican primary is on May 19, 2026.
