The NFL Draft begins tonight. The first round is tonight. The second and third rounds will be Friday night and the rest of the draft will follow on Saturday.
Heisman Trophy winning Indiana Quarterback Fernando Mendoza is expected to go first overall to the Los Vegas Raiders. After that there is a lot of guesswork on who goes when and to who.
The New York Jets need a quarterback, but the consensus second best quarterback in this year's draft is Senior Alabama Quarterback Ty Simpson. Most NFL analysts believe that taking Simpson - who only had 15 starts in his college career -would be a reach for the number two pick in the draft. If the Jets pass on Simpson, they can go for the best player available. ESPN thinks that will be edge rusher David Bailey out of Texas Tech.
Arizona has the third pick. They likely will trade out of this spot to pick up picks in later rounds. They also need a quarterback, but picking Simpson with the number three pick is also seen a reach. If they do pick in this spot, ESPN's analysts think they will select Notre Dame running back Jeremayah Love. They could still trade back into the first round and draft Simpson. Pittsburgh also need a long-term answer at quarterback so could be a possible destination for Simpson.
The Tennessee Titans have the fourth pick. They could pick Ohio State Safety Sonny Styles. Fourth overall is historically a high pick for a safety, but just like quarterback this is soon as a weak draft for cornerbacks.
They are followed by the New York Giants, Cleveland Browns, Washington Commanders, New Orleans Saints, Kansas City Chiefs, and the New York Giants again at ten after a trade with the Cincinnati Bengals.
Players to watch possibly go in the first round include: Ohio State edge Arvell Reese, Georgia Offensive Tackle Monroe Freeling, Ohio State wide receiver Carnell Tate, Arizona State wide receiver Jordyn Tyson, Ohio State safety Caleb Downs, Penn State guard Olaivavega Ioane, Miami offensive tackle Francis Mauigoa, LSU cornerback Mansoor Delane, Utah offensive tackle Spencer Fano, edge rusher Rueben Bain Jr. from Miami, Oregon tight end Kenyon Sadiq, USC wide receiver, Makai Lemon, Alabama offensive tackle Kadyn Proctor, Oregon safety Dillon Thieneman, Ohio State defensive tackle Kayden McDonald, Auburn edge rusher Keldric Faulk, Arizona State offensive tackle Max Iheanachor, Miami edge rusher Akheem Mesidor, Clemson offensive tackle Blake Miller, Washington wide receiver Denzel Boston, Oklahoma edge rusher R Mason Thomas, Central Florida's edge rusher Malachi Lawrence, Indiana wide receiver Omar Cooper Jr., Clemson defensive tackle Peter Woods, Tennessee cornerback Colton Hood, Utah offensive tackle Caleb Lomu, Clemson edge rusher T.J.
